Wacht am Rhein in Koblenz

At first we were a little skeptical, but the food was really great and delicious. Fast, very friendly and attentive service. The in-house grappa is really great. A very nice ambience in the guest room and in every corner there is something new to discover.

When we visited, we sat outside. The pizza was perfect. Thin and tasty. The waitresses were a bit overloaded, so only 4 stars. Not all! We had to wait a little before we could pay. The interior is also very comfortably furnished, but seating is only possible with a reservation due to the current situation. Very good location with a view of the Rhine. Blankets for the cold days are also available. Highly recommended!

We spent a weekend in Koblenz and stopped here on Saturday afternoon. The service was good and the menu won us over, so we reserved a table for the evening. We felt very comfortable there. The food was great and plentiful. The homemade nut schnapps is so delicious that we took some of it with us 😊

I was there with several people. We were served quickly and well very friendly staff. The food was delicious, huge portions and appetizingly presented. We recommend.

Go for the river view not the food!! *The view gives it the 3rd star* I chose this restaurant as it was by far the busiest one on the strip, so many people can apparently be wrong. The service was very slow throughout the meal. The Goulash soup starter had large pieces of meat, but the flavour was lacking depth. My main course when it arrived had obviously been sat waiting, it was in places luke warm. The sausages were over cooked and there were far too many fried onions. The food left a greasy taste in the mouth, and a day later I felt like I was still trying to digest it. My partner had a similar experience with his herring. I would maybe return here for a drink and the view, but never again for the food.

The atmosphere was cozy, the waiters were friendly and tried there best to speak English which was very nice. Sadly the food didn't amaze me. The herring tasted like what you can get at the supermarket and had far too much dressing an the side salad. The schnitzel was covered beneath loads of sauce, so it lost all it's crispness very fast. Some friends were very happy with the served meats there though. So go for that when you go there (Sauerbraten or Rinderbäckchen for example)

Nice owner. Good food. Nice location. Top for being a tourist trap. Had the serving staff been aware of what is on the menu, such as which beer they serve, it would have been a full pot.

My favorite is the Meister Schnitzel. Three breaded pork loin schnitzel from the pan, gratinated with fresh champions, cheese and ham, served with crispy French fries and a little coleslaw. Top price-performance ratio. On the terrace you have a beautiful view of the Rhine, and the interior is also very cozy and lovingly furnished.

The food was really very good for all of us. The staff are very friendly, the atmosphere is rustic and cozy. The prices are reasonable for the great quality of the food, not too high. All in all we had a nice evening here. 👍😀. It only gives 4 stars as there is still some room for improvement. But not much is missing anymore.

Charming and very authentic brasserie. A varied menu with a “local cuisine” section to discover. Well supplied dishes, service and cleanliness at the rendezvous. Correct sanitary Negative point ; The water ordered is mains water billed at 4.7 € per liter. This is unacceptable for me. The assurance of having a closed bottle would be the minimum at this price.

I am very enthusiastic about the hospitality of the waitresses. In addition, the food is incredibly delicious and you sit outside very comfortably. I can only recommend it. Dealing with people with disabilities was also very nice. Unfortunately, this is still not a matter of course. All thumbs up.

The waitresses seem very routine, but we did not find excessive friendliness here. Maybe asking too much at a tourist hotspot. The pasta arabiata were okay for my taste, nothing more. But the prices were okay too. Positive: There are enough bicycle racks in the immediate vicinity.

Nice view but !!!! Unfortunately not quite capable staff (partly) Other promises are made on the card than you get. (Fresh homemade bread for gullarsch soup) was then 🥖. Sorry but just the location I'm not willing to pay. Dishes consist partly or entirely of convenience.

Very nice atmosphere outside (view of the Rhine and fortress) as well as inside (many antique objects). Food is "good civil" and nothing to complain about with the price-performance ratio. Service staff are friendly and attentive. The Amalfi restaurant, which is right next to it, belongs to Wacht am Rhein. This allows you to choose between German and Italian cuisine if the partner prefers the other cuisine. Highly recommended there are the schnitzel;)

The food is very, very tasty. The staff is friendly. The selection of food and drinks is very good. There is something for everybody. Customer requests are catered for. We will keep coming back.

Reviews of restaurants ... hmmm .. tastes are different .. I tasted it excellent and I was served extremely friendly. But I think you shouldn't give so much to the subjective opinion of others, but just try it yourself. You will definitely not starve in this beautifully located restaurant

Very friendly service. The food was delicious and plentiful. The distance rules were, as far as one can judge, all observed and the staff also works towards this. Exemplary! Clear recommendation if you want to eat with a view of the Rhine. Prices are absolutely fine for this location.

Very nice place, very pleasant personnel. We were there on Friday, 21st of May, all was very neatly organised regarding Corona - we had to wait a bit outside for couple of minutes until our table was free and fully desinfected. The waiting for the food took a bit longer than you would usually expect, but as we had a sour cream for the starter and after we have eaten all the bread we were offered some more bread while we waited for the main course. The stuff was very attentive, food was a tiny bit too salty, but in general i still consider our visit a 5 star. For a meal with a starter, two main dishes with meat, three 0.5 liter beers we paid a total of 52 euros.

Great location on the Riverfront near the “Deutches Eck”. Traditional German food. Everything was fresh and delicious. Nice cozy restaurant

POTATO SOUP: Creamy and nice! We got a side of hot bread with it which tastes delicious. PORK KNUCKLE DISH: The pork knuckle is massive and tastes good! The crackling is crispy and has the right amount of saltiness. SAUSAGE DISH: Wouldn’t recommend the sausages as the 2 brown ones taste like packaged sausage from the supermarket. The middle white one tastes good but don’t risk ruining your whole meal just to try the middle white sausage. SPEZI (the drink): It’s a mixture of cola and orange soda. Looks dodgy but interesting flavour! Not as good as a regular coke but definitely worth a try. VANILLA ICE CREAM WITH CHERRY JAM: Not bad, good mix.

Good food, appalling service - amongst the rudest and most offhand I've ever experienced.

Food was fine but we had to wait 50 minutes between starter and main course. I think they had lost our order but for 10 minutes nobody did anything after we asked. These things happen but a restaurant should just man up, admit the mistake and apologise. None of that. There was a comment that they were busy but, relative to their location by the Rhine cruise departure and arrival points, they weren't. What a shame. I can't recommend this place.

Great food and ambience. We had the chicken schnitzel with mushroom sauce and sausage with saukraut. Both are really good. Topped it off with an apple strudel. Very, very good.

A decent restaurant by the Rhine River. Family enjoyed the pasta dishes by the schnitzel was not so enjoyable. It felt dry and the sauce didn't mask that for me. The decoration is fairly quaint.

Bad service. Food was acceptable. We were ignored for a very very long time until the waitress took our order.

Been on sunny day. Ordered 2 Coca Cola’s, Bruschetta and Pork Medallions with Cheese sauce. 1) In coce without asking was dropped peace of lemon. Witch was ok with me, but you have to know that this happens. 2) Bruschetta was not even Bruschetta, it was a pizza, with big slices of tomato and giant slices of mozzarella wich on the Taste was not that bad, but only half of that pizza. The other half was burnt and not eatable. 3) Just with one look I understood that my Pork Medallions were overcooked. The sauce itself was great. But Medallions tastet bad and dry. Summ up: Price > Quality

Didn't like the food and service, the meat was rotten, both mine and my friends, we asked to take it back, and insisted the waitress to taste it for her self, she did so, and she like it. I don't know how anyone could eat that, and say it tastes good. She just took it back, no offer to rap lace the food, or choose something else from the menu, no apology eighter. We drank our beer and left... Can't recommend, don't ever order any schnitzel there people....

We enjoy coming to Koblenz and this restaurant gave us excellent service.

Food was ok. It was admittedly quite late in the day but still, the beef cheek was a bit too dry where it had been sticking above the sauce. The local wines are really nice, which made up for the food some and afternoon cake/coffee (we came back the day after by chance) is nice. The menu is a somewhat confusing mix of Italian, German and European food but I suspect Wacht am Rhein at some point took over the Italian restaurant next door and just serve both menus across the locations. Considering it's right by the river in a quiet and pleasant area, the prices are fair.
